Experiencing energy collapse and burnout from continuous chaos, onslaught of bad news, people acting with hostility and rage? Well, so are most of us as a direct result of these cultural occurrences. Trust me, you are not alone and you are not crazy.
At times, I have felt plagued from an almost catatonic lack of motivation and listlessness; though other times, full of passion and energy for the things I most desire in my life, often within the same day. This year, decisions have been made which encourage the action of seeing each day through to some sort of deserved conclusion. This is not easily reached but is done out of automatic necessity in order to stay afloat.
To feel fulfilled, productive yet joyful; leaving time for the enjoyment of life away from constraints and undue stress: this is the goal, this is life. We are getting there, and I’m taking everyone with me.
The point of my rambling is that Jess and I, to be quite transparent, have had to step back a bit from The Green Ribbon Project so that we could take care of ourselves and the pressing situations in our personal lives and careers. It has been really tough to find balance, and I know many, if not all, of you can relate. To remember a simpler time when everyday life did not feel like such an uphill battle seems far away, but not totally out of reach. I hope that you can start to always see the light, not at the end of the tunnel, which can make you feel as if you’ll never reach it, but as something that is ever-present within you. I hope that you have a majority of days where you feel powerful and capable, that propel you through the days of loss and dashed expectations. I hope that you can stop and observe beauty and kindness and give to others who are struggling. Even when you feel like you have nothing to give, give your kindness to someone else. In those moments of absolute despair, the simple act of a lovely gesture builds a force stronger than you realize. What can be gained by the spewing of anger and hostility? Actions beget reactions. Make sure they are of the helpful sort.
We love you, and hope you are being good to yourself and others,
Cameron, The Green Ribbon Project
Thank you Cameron! So well written, energizing and full of hope. You are an inspiration!
A quote from Arnold Schwarzenegge:
“Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.“
